Water Delivery
2026 Irrigation Season – Water Supply Update
As we approach the 2026 irrigation season, current conditions indicate an extreme drought year, comparable to some of the driest years on record. Water supply in Whychus Creek is expected to be significantly limited.
Due to priority-based water rights:
- Junior water users should plan for very limited water availability and may receive little to no irrigation depending on conditions.
- Senior water users should plan conservatively, with current projections indicating that approximately one cutting of hay may be possible.
Actual water availability will depend on real-time streamflows and may change as conditions evolve throughout the season.
Water deliveries will begin for stock use after March 23, with irrigation ramping up gradually as conditions allow. Early-season flows are expected to be low and intermittent.
We strongly encourage all patrons to plan conservatively and prepare for limited water availability.
TSID will continue to provide updates as conditions change.
Three Sisters Irrigation District
2026 Irrigation Season Start-Up Notice
Three Sisters Irrigation District plans to begin the 2026 irrigation season with a stock water run starting after March 20, 2026, weather and system conditions permitting.
Initial deliveries will occur at stock water levels while the system is filled and checked. During this time, patrons should expect low and intermittent flows as the district gradually ramps up deliveries throughout the system.
The 2026 season is beginning under drought conditions, and no supplemental well water will be available this year. Water deliveries will depend entirely on natural flows in Whychus Creek, and availability may remain limited throughout the early part of the season.
Current expectations for the season include:
- Stock water run: Beginning after March 20
- Early season deliveries: Low and intermittent while the system fills
- Ramp-up: Flows will increase gradually as natural water supply allows
- Season outlook: Water availability may support limited irrigation early in the season, and patrons should plan conservatively
Patrons should check their on-farm valves prior to the start of the season and ensure they are set appropriately (open or closed) depending on their needs before water begins moving through the system.
The district will continue monitoring streamflows and system conditions and will provide updates as the season develops, including when higher delivery levels may be possible.
